Vaisakhi

Vaisakhi, also known as Baisakhi, is celebrated each spring here at Kandal. For the Sikh community this festival commemorates the establishment of the Kalsa. For Hindus, Vaisakhi is the start of the New Year. This is the second festival in the school year that Kandal parents take on a big role in hosting. In the past, the school has gone to the Gurdwara for lunch (students and staff). The luncheon has also been served here at the school. This is a time to share a meal and celebrate community. We have been so lucky! On the day of the celebration staff and students wear beautiful traditional suits. Integrated days are often a part of the festivities, with activities like roti making, diva painting, and turban tying.
